The Self Aggrandizing things bands say about themselves for their bios, we are complicit.

The Mean, a Moncton, New Brunswick four piece, saw the light in 2000 atop then downtown independent record shop, Blast Off! Records. Formed by local luminaries with deep roots in Moncton’s music scene, the combo’s initial aim was to blend the long forgotten history of the dismissed purveyors of true rock and roll into a dose consumable at two minute intervals by connoisseurs and the uninitiated alike.

Channeling British invasion groups such as the Kinks and the Pretty Things, 60’s American Garage achievers the Sonics, Detroit movers the MC5 and 70’s punk rock, The Mean has developed a keen understanding of the frantic, the desperate and the urgency on which rock’n’roll was founded. They place fervor ahead of proficiency, simplicity over complexity. A hook with a beat. The sound is jagged, incendiary and precise, cohesion on the edge of collapse that could train wreck at any moment, vitriol delivered with endearment.
